JCS Solutions has a need for a Network Project Engineer to support the Air Force National Capital Region (AFNCR) IT Services (ITS) program at Joint Base Andrews (JBA).  The LRA supports the Department of Defense Public Key Infrastructure (DoD PKI) program by validating identities and processing digital certificate requests for personnel, systems, and devices. The LRA ensures that PKI credentials are issued in compliance with DoD directives and federal identity assurance policies across classified (SIPR) and unclassified (NIPR) environments. What you will do:
  • Conduct Site Survey's when needed.
  • Serve as the Lead Network Engineer on assigned projects.
  • Develop detailed network designs and architectures that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards
  • Work closely with system engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Stay updated on DoD policies and best practices related to network security and design.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, taclanes and firewalls.
  • Design full scale network solutions to include but not limited to switches, routers, taclanes, F5 Load Balancers, IP Management, VPNs, DHCP, Firewalls etc….
  • Utilize Visio to create, maintain and/or modify diagrams in support of assigned projects i.e., block, wiring, workflow, database, application diagrams etc…
  • Ensure compliance with applicable network security protocols, including 802.1x, DOD STIGs, SRGs and other accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network infrastructure with broader IT and cybersecurity systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing of network systems to ensure functionality, performance, and security compliance.
  • Work closely with system engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during installation and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and source network hardware and software that meet project specifications

What you will bring:
  • Strong knowledge of protocols, security standards, and design principles for OSI 1-4.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies such as Cisco Catalyst Center (FKA DNAC) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  • Experience evaluating and recommending new network technologies to improve system capabilities
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Solid understanding and operational experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols.
  • Experience managing networking hardware including routers, switches, and load balancers.
  • Practical experience in network administration and network security best practices.
  • Familiarity with RSA Authentication
  • Familiarity with load balancer setup and management to optimize traffic distribution.
  • Experience in network monitoring, testing, and performance optimization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with cross-functional and client-facing teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Currently possess an Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Active CompTIA Security + or CCNP Security certification (8140 Compliance)
  • Active CCNA Certification (8140 Compliance)
  • Strong background in network architecture design, including developing end-to-end infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience in evaluating and recommending new networking technologies and tools.
  • Experience documenting network architectures, diagrams, procedures, and operational baselines.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices and risk management, especially at OSI Layers 1-3.
  • Proven track record of developing technical solutions that require collaboration and deep analysis.
  • Ability to work independently on high-impact projects or processes with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with network design and implementation in federal, DoD, or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with network accreditation processes (e.g., RMF, STIGs, DoD 8500 series compliance).
  • Knowledge of COOP/DR (Continuity of Operations/Disaster Recovery) networking considerations.
  • Familiarity with SDN (Software Defined Networking)
  • Experienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)
  • Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR
