Job Summary: 

JCS Solutions LLC (JCS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Virtualization (VMware) Administrator to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under the Integrated Information Technology Support Services (I3TS) contract. This mission-critical program modernizes, sustains, and secures DTRA’s enterprise IT environment in direct support of national security objectives.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to improving IT efficiency, security, and mission effectiveness by designing, implementing, and maintaining a resilient, secure, and highly available virtual infrastructure. Your work will directly support DTRA’s mission to counter and prevent emerging global threats.

What you will do:

The Senior Virtualization Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems and associated hardware. This role spans multiple technical domains and requires deep expertise in VMware technologies, system performance optimization, and infrastructure resilience.

You will lead complex initiatives, manage large-scale virtualization environments, and apply best practices to ensure stability, security, and scalability across the enterprise.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise VMware environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple sites.
  • Configure and manage Omnissa VDI components such as connection brokers, gateways, profile management, and load balancing.
  • Monitor, tune, and optimize system performance, resource utilization, and availability.
  • Implement and maintain VMware networking solutions, including distributed virtual switches and VLANs.
  • Perform system updates, patching, and lifecycle maintenance to ensure security and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve virtualization-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and VM lifecycle challenges.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for virtual infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with command requirements.
  • Review system and performance logs to identify anomalies and proactively resolve potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation covering system architecture, processes, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging VMware technologies to enhance performance, efficiency, and security.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving the security posture, operational efficiency, and capabilities of the virtualized environment.
  • Engage vendors and third-party partners for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Mentor and guide junior administrators, fostering technical growth and best-practice adoption.

  • Leadership: Provides technical leadership and mentorship, contributing to team capability development and long-term operational success.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience. Additional directly related technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
  • Current DoD 8140 / DoD 8570–compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Proven expertise in managing, administering, and troubleshooting VMware vSphere infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware technologies, including ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere networking.
  • Experience supporting Omnissa Horizon 7/8, App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager, and Unified Access Gateways (UAGs).
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, and FSLogix.
  • Familiarity with Dell Wyse thin client management.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, industry best practices, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to review, update, and produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation related to virtualization environments.

How you will wow us:
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certification.
  • ITIL v5 Foundation certification.
  • Prior experience supporting VMware Horizon environments for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting tools such as Ansible or VMware PowerCLI to streamline operational tasks.
  • Previous experience working within the Department of Defense and familiarity with DoD enterprise IT environments.
