What you will do:
- Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for scientific computing environments, including Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop environments
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and application issues in a research environment
- Support installation and updates of scientific software packages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB)
- Assist with secure data transfers and ensure compliance with NIH security standards
- Provide user training and documentation for common scientific computing tasks
- Collaborate with IT teams to escalate complex issues and maintain system integrity
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience supporting scientific computing environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux troubleshooting
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration and scripting (Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with scientific software installation and configuration
- Understanding of NIH security and compliance requirements
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Relevant industry certifications like: MCSA, A+, ITIL Foundation, ACSP, ACIT, Linux+, Security+, etc
- Familiarity with remote management tools like SCCM and Jamf
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
- Strong documentation and training capabilities
