Senior Accountant

Fairfax, VA - Full Time

JCS Solutions LLC (JCS) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and dynamic individual to be a key member of our Finance and Accounting team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee various accounting functions, including month end close, revenue recognition, financial reporting, prepare general ledger entries, analyzing financial information preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee various accounting functions, including general day to day accounting functions – i.e. accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations.
  • Conduct account analysis and research to interpret and ensure accuracy and understanding of account activity.
  • Coordinate monthly general ledger close: validate completeness of journal entry posting, review preliminary financial statements, prepare and record adjusting entries as necessary.
  • Prepare accrual and other journal entries with supporting documentation in accordance with best practice.
  • Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks).
  • Communicates with customers/subcontractors on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify ways to build efficiencies into current processes.
  • Ad-hoc projects as necessary

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or degree in a related field combined with relevant accounting experience.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience in working for government contract environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, adheres to deadlines, responsive to client and management requirements.
  • Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of full cycle accounting.
  • Exhibits strong ethics, positive attitude, and calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Requirements:
  • Deep understanding of Costpoint software to optimize financial processes.
  • Experience with procurement operations.
  • Experience with payroll accounting practices.
