Solutions Architect

JCS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior level Solutions Architect with a deep understanding of data architecture, cloud technologies, and the latest emerging technology stacks. Previous experience in Insider Threat and User Activity Monitoring (UAM) and User Behavior Activity (UBA) is helpful.

As a Solutions Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the overall architecture to support DHS’s data-driven decision-making capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the solutions and data infrastructure aligns with the business objectives and technology roadmap for DHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership collaborating with Government's ITP leadership to provide recommendations and roadmaps for proposed enterprise solutions.
  • Lead efforts to establish and maintain data warehousing solutions for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Drive the development and enhancement of reporting systems to support data-driven decision-making with the use of advanced analytics and data-driven insights to improve threat detection.
  • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation utilizing scalable cloud infrastructure and services that leverage the latest emerging technologies.
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios to align data architecture with ITP’s broader IT strategies.
  • Assists domain architecture team on solutions management and timing of financial spend for application solutions.
Must Have Skills/Experience:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and services that leverage the latest emerging technologies.
  • Solid understanding/experience with:
  • Data Pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing data.
  • Data Integration and use of Metadata and Common Data Models
  • Data Architecture, Data Security, Data Flows, Data Models and Data Governance
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in Data Management & Cloud Technologies and evaluate their feasibility, suitability, and alignment with ITP’s goals and requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Angular, Java, or Scala.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with data cataloging and metadata management.
  • Experience in Insider Threat and User Activity Monitoring (UAM) and User Behavior Activity (UBA).
  • Prior consulting/client-facing experience supporting technology and/or data management initiatives at a government agency.
  • Advanced degree in a technology or business field (e.g., Computer Science, MBA)
  • An understanding and experience of leveraging as applicable Federal Enterprise Architecture (EA) practices and artifacts, particularly as they pertain to the use of the Data Reference Model (DRM), will be a plus.
