Oracle Database Administrator

JCS Solutions LLC (JCS) is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to provide on-site and remote support for on-prem and cloud database development and maintenance. Support is required to ensure the availability, security, and recoverability of the Government Client’s Oracle. Support is also required to develop end-user reports from Government Client's systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the availability of Production, Test, and Development databases that support the Institute’s various IRMB applications deployed in both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Provide administrative support for Oracle databases and associated utilities like GoldenGate and DataGuard
  • Responsible for nightly and monthly maintenance on the database servers including evaluating current patches and follow-on patching of database software and security updates, maintaining standby databases, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  •  Participate in an on-call rotation for critical or production issues that occur outside normal business hours.
  • Work with other teams for database related support such as refresh data in test, recover data, provide production release support, setup the communication between COTS applications & databases, resolve system vulnerabilities, etc.
  •  Provide performance tuning and health monitoring for databases, utilities, and systems.
  • Maintain accounts, roles, and privileges. Install, configure, and upgrade database servers.
  • Perform troubleshooting.
  • Provide database support in DMZ and Azure cloud.
  • Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures that provide a framework for planning and performing the maintenance on the Government’s database and report servers.
  • Support the migration to or maintenance of all databases on a Unity platform.
  •  Support requirements gathering, risk analysis, planning, and execution to migrate Oracle 19c systems to Oracle 23c
Position Requirements:
  • Oracle 19c – Admin (patching/users/roles), SQL PL/SQL, troubleshooting, performance tuning, encryption, multi-tenant, encryption (TDE and Network)
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager – installation, configuration, patching
  • Oracle GoldenGate – installation, configuration, patching
  • Linux and Windows experience
  • Experience effectively working with Oracle vendor support is highly desired
  •  Prior experienced with NIH
Desired Requirements:
  • MySQL 8.0 w/ replication – on Ubuntu Linux
  • SQL Server & SQL Server clustering experience is desired
  • Bash scripting experience is desired (used for encrypting MySQL backups)
