JCS Solutions has a need for a Network Engineer to join our growing Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD. The DES program is a highly demanding mission and requires expert technical and professional management to support DISA's enterprise Information Technology (IT) services. You will be supporting a large and complex IT discovery, design, and migration effort towards a Single Service Provider model for the Department of Defense. What you will do:
The specific duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
  • Designing, maintaining, and operating Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), Wireless, Internet connectivity, and Network Security
  • Maintain existing network equipment, installing new equipment in plant environments.
  • Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management.
  • Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information.
  • Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.
  • Provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture.
  • Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces and methodologies.
  • Configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components.
  • Gather needed data to specify system/component performance and interface requirements.
  • Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN’s, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption,
  • Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate.
  • Must have flexible working hours to be available to support team when needed to include: occasional on call support (typically one week at a time every two months) or additional hours based on mission need.
  • Technically strong and able to make quick, sound decisions. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.
What you will bring:
  • SECRET DoD Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • A bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of network engineering experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have a DoD IAT level II baseline certification, prior to start (Sec+).
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, ACL, NAT, Policy Based Routing, SDWAN, QoS, high availability, VoIP, Wireless, DHCP, DNS
  • Excellent network hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent analytical capabilities including creative problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Committed to documentation and organization efforts.
  • Capable of multitasking while working in a constantly shifting environment with many moving pieces.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and assignments simultaneously under strict deadlines with minimal direction at times.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

 How you will wow us:
  • Knowledge of proper procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used to install, maintain and repair wireless communications systems and subsystems. Knowledge of electronic and wireless theory including digital, analog, and circuitry.
  • Proficiency with Cisco IOS or other IP/transport network protocols and general practices. Expertise in IP technologies, i.e. Networking architectures and methodologies and Voice Services.
  • Expert Knowledge of IP principles.
  • Proficiency in at least two or more of the following devices: Cisco routers, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco switches, KG175.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following tools: Science Logic, Catalyst Center, Ansible tower.
  • CCNP Enterprise certification preferred
  • Experience interpreting, implementing, and assessing DISA STIGs
  • Implementing network security controls like firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Configuring routers, switches, and other network devices with security best practices.
  • Implementing and managing security patches and updates.
  • Configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, and other security appliances.
  • Tuning security devices for optimal performance and security.
